There are three problems for pedestrians related to the punch out of the staging area lining the arena block on Atlantic between Flatbush and 6th.
1). The pedestrian signal for pedestrians moving south across Atlantic from Atlantic Terminal to the arena block is partially to totally obscured, depending on the pedestrian's height.
2). The crosswalk on Flatbush from PC Richards/Modells to the arena block is blocked by construction. Pedestrians cross south of the construction and weave through the traffic in the travel lanes. How (and if) pedestrians are supposed to move through the area is not clear. The construction could be bridged over during the day, or a crosswalk could be clearly delineated.
3). The jersey barriers along Atlantic near 6th Avenue punch out into the travel lane, obscuring the views for both pedestrians and drivers of each other. The barriers have a sharp angle and are actually inside the travel lane.
