2012-12-11 700 Pacific St car park traffic jam & blocking & driving on sidewalk
2 hours before and 2 hours after events
Reported to 311 over an hour ago. Police have stopped at corner several times. No tickets issued to any of the illegally parked/idling limos/private cars.
3 Black SUVs (one escalade, one range rover, one Infinity) idling at bus stop in front of 43 5th avenue. The limos were there for the Rolling Stones concert at Barclays Arena.
There was a black limousine idling in front of 66 5th avenue. The limo was there for a Rolling Stones concert at Barclays Arena.
Police doing nice job ticketing illegally parked cars (as long as they're not "Officials" or idling limos)
Other than the blind eye turned toward illegally parked "Officials" going to Barclays Center events and idling limos, it is worth pointing out some good news/progress in terms of ticketing illegally parked cars. Hopefully this will start to discourage people from driving to Barclays Center events and ultimately cut down on the noise and free up legal spaces for residents.
As reported by dlny1067 (Late Night noise at Pacific/Carlton - http://www.atlanticyardswatch.net/node/1025), the same can now be said for 5th Ave around Bergen/St. Marks/Prospect Place: late night street cleaning, garbage pickup with loud trucks beeping, crushing glass bottles, and just generally making a lot of hard-to-identify noise that was never a problem before. Have noticed it several times around 1-2am, and once or twice at 11:30pm and 5:00 am.
Three issues. (only noise issues were reported to 311 last night) For the past couple weeks, there has been construction work which I usually notice around 2:00 a.m. Very loud, includes beeping trucks and loud equipment which I can't identify resulting in a sound similar to a vacuum cleaner. This work seems to be being conducted by the DOT. Second issue is ongoing street cleaning also around 2:00 a.m. which is extremely loud and ongoing. The street cleaning seems to coincide with Barclay Center events. The hours should be restricted.
