The new norm - illegal parking, double-parking, idling, honking, loss of residential parking
Nothing new here....cars parked illegally in all the usual spots along 5th Ave. Private cars (some of which are residents trying to park) idling on side streets waiting for spots to open up....all combining to create the usual 2 hour pre and post-event horn-blaring show. It occurs to me that this problem could be largely solved by implementing resident permit parking like other cities have successfully done (Boston near Fenway park is good example).

Loud Drunken Crowds Following Barclays Event
Approximately 30 minutes of nonstop top-of-lungs yelling & screaming from constant stream of people leaving event. Crowds spilling over into 5th Avenue causing noise from honking cars. Some additional noise is to be expected from the arena crowds, but this is ridiculous.
Trucks queue to access loading dock for Bieber production
Two trucks queued on Dean Street waiting for entry to the loading dock for at least half an hour. The second truck turned off its engine, but the first idled for up to half an hour. Only when NYPD asked the driver to turn off its engine did he turn it off. The first driver did confirm that he came from the Navy Yard. He wasn't happy he had to wait at the arena. The trucks finally entered the elevators when two other trucks in the loading dock emerged.
