Reported to 311 over an hour ago. Police have stopped at corner several times. No tickets issued to any of the illegally parked/idling limos/private cars.
3 Black SUVs (one escalade, one range rover, one Infinity) idling at bus stop in front of 43 5th avenue. The limos were there for the Rolling Stones concert at Barclays Arena.
There was a black limousine idling in front of 66 5th avenue. The limo was there for a Rolling Stones concert at Barclays Arena.
Approximately 30 minutes of nonstop top-of-lungs yelling & screaming from constant stream of people leaving event. Crowds spilling over into 5th Avenue causing noise from honking cars. Some additional noise is to be expected from the arena crowds, but this is ridiculous.
Two trucks queued on Dean Street waiting for entry to the loading dock for at least half an hour. The second truck turned off its engine, but the first idled for up to half an hour. Only when NYPD asked the driver to turn off its engine did he turn it off. The first driver did confirm that he came from the Navy Yard. He wasn't happy he had to wait at the arena. The trucks finally entered the elevators when two other trucks in the loading dock emerged.
I was told buses were idling in the pad one hour before I arrived. Indeed, when I arrived they were all idling. I was told they have been there all day, and idling all day.
It is unclear why any vehicles are allowed in this location. They appeared to be tour buses for Rush. These buses were parked at grade with their headlights facing out. They were idling. They were parked directly across from residences.
311 refused report : Arose this morning to find a person had discarded their feces filled jeans in front of the two houses I can only guess they drank/ate too excess - How drunk do you have to be to lose it in your pants and go on without them!
Light pollution from the large, Times Square style neon screen on the Barclays Center is on the street and beams into 4 of our apartment windows. Even with blinds closed it is to bright and flickers constantly. On 10/12 as well as other nights it was on all night. 311 said that to make a formal complaint I would need to speak to the manager of the Barclays Center. On further probing regarding documentation of my complaint I was told that I needed to speak to the Community Board. No contact information was given for either, as I was unexpectedly disconnected.
Easy to know when there is an event at Barlcays center if you (still) live around 5th Ave & St. Marks Place/Ave: hours of endless honking due to gridlock at the intersection.
